How to thread your needle
Threading your punch needle might look tricky at first, but it’s super easy once you get the hang of it.Start by inserting your threader through the metal tube of the needle until it comes out at the tip. Place your yarn through the loop of the threader, then pull it back through the needle. Next, guide the threader through the small hole at the needle’s tip, add your yarn again, and pull it through. You’re ready to punch!
✨ Tip: Make sure your yarn moves freely — it shouldn’t be tight or tangled, or your loops might pull out.

How to set up your hoop
A tight fabric is the secret to clean, even loops. Stretch your monk’s cloth (or fabric included in your kit) over the hoop and make sure it’s pulled tight like a drum. Once it’s secure, gently tug around the edges to check for any loose areas.If your fabric starts to loosen while working, pause and tighten it again, this will keep your stitches even and neat.
✨ Tip: You should hear a slight “pop” sound when punching, that means your hoop is set up perfectly!

Punch needle tips and mistakes to avoid
When you start punching, the key is to slide your needle gently over the surface of the fabric — not lift it too high. If you pull your needle too far out, the loops can come loose and your threads might pop out of the fabric.Make sure your yarn stays loose as you work. If there’s any tension, your needle won’t punch smoothly and your loops may not stay in place.If you notice small holes or gaps in your fabric after removing a stitch, don’t worry, just rub them lightly with your fingernail, and the fabric will close back up.
